RDA History

Russian Digital Alliance evolved in the period of 2000-2001 from independent initiatives (e.g. CluMBA IT Task Force, the Russian Washington DC High-Tech Networking) undertaken by a number of professionals of the Russian origin living and working in the US.

In April of 2001, an activist group discussed the necessity to consolidate different efforts directed at helping Russia's software industry succeed in the US market and create a Russian IT industry association in the US, an effort, which resulted in establishing Russian Digital Alliance as a non-profit organization based in Washington DC.

The Russian Digital Alliance was incorporated on January 23, 2002 in the District of Columbia as a non-profit corporation and is organized as a trade associations under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (Click Here to download RDA Articles of Incorporation).

During 2002 the Russian Digital Alliance has accomplished the following:

  • Launched http://www.russianda.org/ website, which included one of the most comprehensively built databases of the Russian software and IT outsourcing service providers on the Internet
  • Organized a number of seminars dedicated to the issues of Russian IT and software industry
  • Helped organize the 2002 World Russian Forum held in April 28-29 in Washington DC by organizing the Forum's IT Panel attended by a number of prominent Russian software companies, including Stepan Pachikov (Founder of Paragraph International, Board Member of Parascript, LLC and  Hyperboloid Corp.), Sergey Andreyev (CEO, ABBYY), Andrew Sviridenko (CEO, Spirit Corp.), Neil Godick (CEO, PHLBurg Technologies), Alexander Smoljanski (CEO, Integrum World Wide), and Dan Satinsky (Chairman, the US-Russia Chamber of Commerce of Boston)
In the period of 2003-2004 the slowing US and Global economy and especially hard-hit ICT sector have dampened enthusiasm of the totally volunteer RDA Management Team.  All RDA activities have been frozen.  The only thing that was still operational during that period was RDA's online portal and its online database of the RDA Member-Companies.

In 2005, Vadim Kapustin, President and one of the founders of RDA, decided to revive RDA by updating and refreshing its online portal, which would serve as a single point of reference for potential US clients interested in Russia's software products or offshore IT outsourcing service providers.   RDA is now looking for new enthusiasts who are willing to commit some of their time and effort to promote the objectives and vision of RDA.  Please, contact Vadim Kapustin at vadim.kapustin@atkearney.com if you are interested to get involved in the newly revived RDA.

The only driving force behind RDA is the energy of the people who believe in Russia's ability to establish itself as a nation capable of exporting not just its raw natural resources but also the products of its peoples' intellect.  These people are ready to devote their time and energy to the cause of helping Russia succeed in this endeavor.
